It was extremely exciting to see Laura and Patrick’s Basin Harbor Club wedding published in Vermont Bride Magazine for the Winter/Fall 2017 issue. I loved everything about their day from their yellow wedding details to their sendoff through a giant tunnel of wedding sparklers. You can see the full story of their wedding photos here.

It was such an honor to be interviewed for Vermont Bride Magazine and featured in their ‘Vendor Spotlight’ Q & A for the Winter/Spring 2017 issue. I love talking about wedding photography and all of the amazing couples I’ve been able to meet along the way. This question below gets to the heart of why I love being a wedding photographer and especially a Vermont wedding photographer:
Vermont Bride: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER?
Cat: I really decided to become a storyteller and the camera is the best vehicle I have. I am of course both a romantic and a nostalgic–kind of a magic bullet for a wedding photojournalist. I love to hold onto time through photos and I’m endlessly curious and interested in hearing people’s stories. In my day-to-day life I really don’t go anywhere without my camera.

Laura and Patrick’s engagement shoot was like no other–incorporating a tractor, a historic cruise boat and a painted cow. We started our shoot at The Shoreham Inn and worked our way down to Larabee’s Point in Shoreham, VT, and onto the 60 ft luxury vessel cruise boat– Carillon Cruises. The shoot was originally supposed to be at Laura’s family farm, where the pair got engaged, but the downpours the day before had turned the farm into a mud slide. Instead, they brought a bit of the farm to them–the tractor–making for a perfect engagement shoot.
Reneé and La Shun had such a gorgeous wedding at the Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, VT. It all started as an office romance for these two–Reneé, a dental hygienist and La Shun, a dentist. And by all accounts they were a match made in sparkly purple heel-heaven from the get-go! For a storyteller like me that loves color, I was like a kid in a candy store with her sparkly purple heals. What’s even more impressive is Reneé sparkled them herself. Their mild November day was filled with lots of laughter, a notable amount of chicken wings, lots of sparkle of course and an overwhelming amount of love. Congratulations you two–thanks for having me capture your amazing day!

Jane and Rupert had the most stunning destination wedding at the Colonel Williams Inn in Marlboro, VT, on August 24th 2013. This Manhattan-based couple had friends and family come from far and wide to see them unite, especially Rupert’s side who traveled from the United Kingdom. Jane could not have looked more gorgeous and Rupert’s reaction to seeing her for the first time walking down the aisle said it all. Congratulations Jane and Rupert, thanks for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!
