Kaitlyn + Doug’s Alpaca Wedding

Kaitlyn and Doug’s wedding sparked a tsunami of creative fireworks in my heart. I mean it was an ALPACA wedding! Alpacas everywhere. You can’t top that. Baby alpacas, giant alpacas, and one insatiably curious alpaca that is near and dear to my heart now and kept photobombing their wedding photos with an open mouth full of grass.

From a wedding photojournalism perspective this was as inspiring as it can get for me. The bride even got to hold a baby alpaca named Speedy for their wedding portraits. That’s normal. In fact, I want this to be my new normal, shooting weddings at the Vermont Wedding Barn at Champlain Valley Alpacas in Bridport, Vermont.  I think Kaitlyn has a natural alpaca mothering aura because Speedy hung around in her arms for a really long time and gave me tons of time to take photos.

It also helped that Kaitlyn and Doug are one of the sweetest couples I’ve met, super easy-going, full of fun and laughter. Their families and friends were all cut from that same cloth. Doug, who is a native Vermonter, moved to San Francisco on a whim where he immediately met Kaitlyn at work who hails from the Los Angeles area. The two now live in VT.

They had this amazing outdoor ceremony that completely teased them with rain. The drops started to come down right as Doug was walking down the aisle. It really seemed like the sky was going to open up and you could see the look in everyone’s eyes. And then suddenly it all just stopped and they had a completely gorgeous ceremony complete with dramatic clouds. At the end of their ceremony the alpacas escaped as they were walking down the aisle and raced along the road with them as they processioned onto the reception area. These alpacas were very mischievous that day and that was such a treat. I loved everything about this exciting, inspiring and quirky free-spirited farm wedding in Vermont.

Kaitlyn and Doug, thank you so much for having me come along for the adventure!

Taylor + Andrew’s Lareau Farm Bohemian Dream Wedding

Taylor and Andrew’s wedding at Lareau Farm Inn was a spectacular bohemian dream bursting with such sultry chic style. Every detail inspired me from their exotic umbrella cabana lawn lounge complete with floor pillows to their handwoven summer of love sign, their giant feather plumes with flowers decorating their wedding arch, their handmade wooden cutting board centerpieces made by the groom himself to their boho flags flying high on rafters interwoven with twinkle lights. From white birdcage decor to southwestern cow skull to bowls of colorful paper folding fans, I found color and handmade details everywhere. I loved taking photos of Taylor twirling in the golden light. She was such a free-spirited bride and the entire day was such a dream for this free-spirited photojournalist. We played around with the hay bails and Andrew even launched himself off of one. It was so sweet watching the father-daughter first look between Taylor and her dad. What an awesome, dream-escape it was! I was so captivated and inspired by all that you created and the incredible love surrounding you both. Taylor and Andrew, thank you so much for choosing me to capture it for you!

Lacy + Dan’s Lareau Farm Wedding

Lacy and Dan are two of the kindest people I’ve met. And between Lacy’s beauty and her dreamy never-ending wedding dress train, I was on a creative joy-ride snapping away in a speechless photo-heaven flow state for most of the day. Their July 6th wedding at Lareau Farm Inn in Waitsfield, Vermont, was filled with dramatic rain showers and a magical glowing light that only follows a thrilling downpour. I love the raucous roller-coaster of a hardcore Vermont rain and the buzzing glow-shine of relief that exhales in its wake. Despite the fact that their outdoor ceremony was moved inside the pavilion, Lacy and Dan were overflowing with nothing but smiles and a contagious gratitude to everyone who surrounded them, to each other and to Dan’s two sons. Their Justice of the Peace Wedding Officiant, Stephen Laurie, created a beautiful ceremony, and the Lareau Farm staff seamlessly moved their ceremony inside and created and all-around outstanding celebration while Digital DJ Entertainment brought the party and the photo booth fun. I was so honored to be able to witness and capture their day. And I was deeply inspired by the way they smiled, laughed and glowed throughout their unpredictable weather, loving every moment of their wedding journey’s wild ride.  That spoke volumes that this is a couple who will weather anything life throws their way, and they’ll do it with a smile. Lacy and Dan, thank you SO MUCH for making me a part of your day! It was an incredible experience for everyone who got to be there!

Amanda + Brian’s Lareau Farm Inn Wedding, Vermont

Amanda and Brian’s outdoor wedding at Lareau Farm Inn in Waitsfield, Vermont, was the perfect setting on Sept. 29th. The day was full of blue skies and puffy, white clouds. The foliage was turning and it was a dream day for a fall wedding. I had the pleasure of working alongside Shawn Cimonetti, who was an amazing second photographer for the day. Shawn captured Brian and the groomsmen getting ready upstairs as I stayed with the ladies downstairs. I loved how the bridesmaids each wore a different dress within the same color palette. Amanda and Brian had their first look out on the porch and we walked around the property taking photos with the wedding party before the ceremony. The outdoor ceremony location at Lareau Farm can’t be beat and is both rustic chic and secluded with surrounding nature. During the reception, their friends surprised this adventure couple with a two bicycles mounted with handmade “Just Married” signs on the front and beer cans tied to the back. They had an epic party and dancing like no other wedding and finished the night with a ShotSki nightcap. What an amazing couple and celebration! Thank you so much, Amanda and Brian, for having us capture your day!

Sarah & Zach’s Shelburne Farms Wedding

Sarah and Zach had an intimate, dream wedding at The Inn at Shelburne Farms.  The forecast kept everyone on their toes until the last minute and we all wondered if their ceremony would end up being outdoors. But the rain cleared just in time and it ended up being a magical outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Champlain. I had the best time walking around Shelburne Farms to take portraits of them. Shelburne Farms has so many incredible photo opportunities and backdrops for gorgeous environmental wedding portraits. And while we walked, I loved hearing the story of how Sarah and Zach had met at a Christmas party in Rhode Island, where they still live, and how their very first date was on New Year’s Eve. Sarah, a Shelburne native, had the most incredible crushed red velvet heals, and it was only by sheer coincidence that I paired them on top of a green velvet chair. But hearing that their love story took off during the holidays made that pairing of Christmas colors so much more significant. Thank you so much Sarah and Zach for choosing me to capture your perfect day!
